padding-right property CSS Reference



Definition and Usage

The padding-right CSS property of an element sets the padding space required on the right side of an element. The padding area is the space between the content of the element and its border. Negative values are not allowed.

  • Applies to all elements except table-row-group, table-header-group, table-footer-group, table-row, table-column-group and table-column
  • Inherited no
  • Percentages refer to the width of the containing block

  • Computed Value the percentage as specified or the absolute length

Syntax

Formal syntax: <length> | <percentage>
padding-right: 0.5em;

Values

<length>
Specifies a positive fixed width. See <length> for details.
<percentage>
A percentage with respect to the width of the containing block.
